Shaws Department Stores is thrilled to announce the opening of our brand new store in Athlone this October 2024. As we continue to grow and expand, we are seeking a dedicated Store Manager for our Athlone location. This role involves overseeing the successful store launch, including recruitment, training, stock management, and visual merchandising, and driving daily operations to ensure the success of our expansion.

Job Purpose:

 

Reporting to the Head of Retail, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a modern department store ensuring its smooth functioning and driving overall business success. You will be tasked with managing the team, driving sales and maintaining a positive customer experience.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

       Maximize the profitability of your store by being strongly sales-focused, controlling costs and delivering on key performance indicators.

       Ensure a fantastic customer experience every day, based on core store standards i.e.. Hygiene, cleanliness, friendliness.

       Lead and motivate the store's team.

       Ensure all members of the team are performance managed to drive motivation, succession and development.

       Development and training of the store team.

       Ensure the implementation of all company policies and procedures in-store.

       Day to day management of store operations.

       Be aware of competitor activity locally.

       Develop and maintain effective working relationships within your store, with category management team, other head office personnel and external business partners.

       Exploit information available to you from the company's information systems in making and/or implementing decisions.

       Ensure the safety, health and welfare of all those affected by activities of the store.

       Champion the company's Vision & Values.

Skills & Experience Required:                                       

       Retail Management experience (5+ years) at least some of which in relevant product categories.

       Well-developed people skills.

       Experience of managing performance.

       Strong communication skills.

       Excellent work structuring and coordination skills.
