Job Title: CNM I Orthopaedics Surgery

Reporting to: Director of Nursing

ROLE PURPOSE

To support the nurse manager in the Orthopaedics Surgical Theatres to organise plan and direct the Theatres.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

      Registered in the general division of NMBI.

      At least five years post registration experience, two of which, must be recent experience in the relevant area.

      Have an appropriate qualification or management experience relevant to the post.

      Evidence of personal professional development.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      Providing a high level of professional and clinical leadership.

      Evaluate and develop, lead and manage the implementation of best practice policy and procedures.

      Provide appropriate reports as required.

      Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and safety.

      Scheduling unit personnel in a manner that promotes optimal use of staff, taking into account annual leave, sickness, absences etc.

      Allocating nursing and support staff in an appropriate manner to meet the workload and ensuring continuity of care whilst operating within allocated resources.

      Participating in the recruitment and orientation of personnel, appropriate to the needs of the department.

      Promote and nurture a high level of staff morale, there by promoting team spirit and job satisfaction among nursing staff and other staff in the unit.

      The assessment and identification of training and development needs for nursing within the unit by setting objectives for learning and contribution to the development training programmes where appropriate.

      Delegating professional duties to staff recognising the professional competency of individuals.

      Collaborating with hospital personnel and other healthcare providers in planning care.

      Serving on committees within the hospital as appropriate.

      Maintaining effective communication networks within the unit and departments throughout the hospital.
