Job Purpose:

 The Veterinary Surgeon will work closely with our farm managers, field staff and third-party producers to ensure the health and welfare of our animals. They will be expected to drive the business, implement both short and long-term veterinary plans.


Key Responsibilities:

       Ensure Animal Welfare is maintained at all times.

-  Advising and supporting the team in regarding to the law surrounding animal welfare

       Managing Health Management across our farms

-  Examining and observing animals to diagnose health problems and assess their health, testing for disease and carrying out Post-mortem of pigs

       Advise on Animal Nutrition and Dietary recommendations

       Responsible for developing and roll out Health Plans across all farms

       Analyse trends Production Statistics from the Company's software programmes and make recommendations when required

       Ensure implementation and adherence to the Red Tractor standards regarding Animal Health and Welfare

       Ensure accurate and up to date records are maintained

       Comply with all Policies and Procedures including Health, Safety and Environmental requirements

Job Requirement:

 

Essential

       Qualified MRCVS experience Vet or recent Graduate

       Experience in working with large livestock

       Experience in post-mortems, taking samples and treatments

       Excellent communication Skills

       Ability to manage one's own time effectively

       A team player but can also work to their own initiative

       Positive can-do attitude along with the willingness to learn quickly within a changing environment

       Full clean drivers' licence


Desirable:

       Experience with working with pigs

       Good understanding of monogastric production systems

       Experience in post-mortems, taking samples and treatments

       Familiar with VMD requirements for running a Veterinary Practice

       Understanding of Red Tractor an associated certification standards

       Experience in working within a fast-paced environment

VETERINARY SURGEON

The Veterinary Surgeon will be joining our Veterinary Practice in Armagh which specialises in Porcine Animals. They will work closely with our farm managers, field staff and third-party producers to ensure the health and welfare of our animals.


The successful candidates will be Qualified MRCVS, experienced Vet or recent graduate, have experience with large livestock and completing post-mortems. They must also have the ability to work on their own initiative, a can-do attitude, willingness to learn quickly within a changing environment and have excellent communications skills. A full driving licence is required, as the role will involve travel to our farms.


Previous experience in with working with pigs and being familiar with VMD requirements for running a Veterinary Practice are desirable.

Full training and mentoring will be provided by our Award-Winning Vet, as well as our technical team.
