JOB TITLE: Security Officer 

LOCATION: London Energy, N18 3AG, London

REPORTING TO: Contract Operations Manager / Site supervisors 

SHIFT PATTERN: 4 shifts per week 2 days off - Mixture of both days and nights (Will include weekends and bank holidays)

12-hour shifts

Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week minimum

PAY RATE: £13.15 per hour

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE 

  • This important role is the public face of the Security Team. A can-do and professional attitude is essential in this highly influential role. You also need to ensure exemplary standards of Security and Customer Service are always provided to the client and visitors to the site. 
  • This role will require you to cover various shifts both days and nights.  
  • The client is a large Energy and Waste services provider, waste depots and recycling centres. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Readily interact with all visitors within the site, delivering first class customer focused services 
  • Carry out regular patrols of the site as detailed in the site assignment Instructions, being always proactive. 
  • Continuously look for opportunities to be of assistance to visitors and client proactively helping wherever opportunities arise. 
  • Safeguard all the sites so that they are a safe and non-threatening environment for all visitors. 
  • Ensuring all incidents are managed in accordance with site policies and procedure. 
  • Liaising with site control room proactively reacting to incidents and ensuring colleagues are fully briefed and always supported. 
  • Ensure any unsecure areas of the site are reported to Control Room immediately and action taken to resolve. 
  • Record/log all non-conformances and emergencies with the appropriate control room operatives. 
  • Deal efficiently and effectively with all emergencies ensuring the site team are kept fully always informed. 
  • Intelligent understanding of human behaviour, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals, logging, and reporting incidents in line with site/company polices. 
  • Maintain vigilance and highlight/manage unauthorised access by banned individuals. 
  • Ensure radio procedures are always adhered to. 
  • Ensure all events/incidents are recorded in the Security Officer notebook correctly and notebook policies are always adhered to. 
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business. 
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager. 
  • Ensure a timely response to all security issues and events. 
  • Complete all training requirements as requested by line manager. 
  • Be available to cover additional shifts as required to cover absence/annual leave. 
  • Liaise closely with the Environmental Services team delivering one service and highlight opportunities in working as one team. 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • SIA Licensed DS or SG required. 
  • SIA CCTV licensed desirable. 
  • First Aid certificate desirable. 
  • Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful always whilst carry out duties to the highest standard. 
  • One team approach 
  • Take ownership of all situations to ensure tasks are completed or escalated when necessary. 
  • To always stay motivated aim high and achieve. 
  • To respect all staff and visitors within the site. 
  • Excellent communication skills.

Requirements

Must be able to pass BS7858.

Must have a compleat 5 year work history or back to school, colledge or university.

Must have or be able to obtain an SIA Licence.
