Job Title: User Researcher

Salary: £37,000 - £40,000

Hours per week: 35

You’ll be required to work from our head office in Wigston, Leicester a minimum of 2 days per week (one of which will be a Tuesday). The remainder of your working hours will be undertaken from home.

About the roleWe are seeking a passionate User Researcher to join IOSH at the forefront of a major digital transformation. In this newly created role, you will be pivotal in shaping the future of our digital offerings by planning, designing, and executing research activities to deeply understand our users and their motivations for engaging with our products and services. 

Your insightful research will drive strategic decision-making and enhance digital experiences, informing design and development processes to ensure the user experience not only meets but exceeds expectations. 

You will collaborate closely with content and UX designers to understand how our inbound marketing activities attract customers, and continuously apply optimisation techniques to increase conversion. 

This is a key role where your contributions will be instrumental in delivering our strategic priorities and advancing our 5-year strategy, Activate 2028.

What you'll bring

The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of user needs and behaviours, information architecture, interaction design, and accessibility. 

You will have the ability to think creatively, challenge the status quo, and seek opportunities for continuous improvement. 

You will have excellent planning, organisation and administration skills with proven experience in developing, implementing, and analysing research plans in complex organisations with multiple stakeholders and customer segments is a must. To succeed in this role, the successful candidate will also have experience using research to continually enhance websites and leading associated development and implementation projects. 

Essential criteria

    • Excellent knowledge of UX principles including understanding user needs and behaviours, information architecture, interaction design and accessibility 
    • Excellent knowledge of research methodologies and best practices for conducting ethical and reliable user research 
    • Excellent knowledge of analysing data to inform and enhance decision making and performance improvement. 
    • Good knowledge of the technologies used to build and operate digital services
