Community Fundraiser

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Salary: £30,000

Hours: Full-time – Monday to Friday (opportunity for hybrid and flexible working)

The Organisation:

The Cheltenham Town Community Trust deliver a range of coaching services and educational programmes across the County of Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. The objects of the charity are for the benefit of the public generally and, in particular, the inhabitants of Gloucestershire and its surrounding areas.

The Role:

Working closely with the Trust Manager and external bid writing consultant, the Community Fundraiser will be responsible for raising unrestricted funds for Cheltenham Town Community Trust. The role will support fundraising events (sometimes in partnership with Cheltenham Town FC) which will be discussed and agreed with the senior management team and Trustees.

Responsibilities:

  • Support with funding applications to generate additional income for projects that contribute to the strategic goals of the trust
  • Prepare presentations for a range of potential sponsors and supporters, tailored to future funding opportunities/proposals
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities and build rapport with decision makers and existing/new funders
  • Analyse, understand, and interpret information relating to the impact our services have on beneficiaries and the wider community and translate into compelling narratives for funders
  • Ensure reporting requirements are met and that funders are kept informed of how their support has enabled the charity to continue its work
  • Ensure records are up to date, complete, stored, and used in compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure timely invoicing in line with contracts
  • Work with the trust appointed bid writing consultant and Trust Manager to identify new project/income streams to enhance the trust’s current delivery portfolio
  • Promote trust events and fundraising initiatives
  • Ensure all groups within the local community are represented within the activity programmes and play an active role in the trusts implementation of its equality, diversity and inclusion policy
  • Consult with the Health & Safety Lead to undertake risk assessments and ensure Health & Safety compliance with fundraising events and activities
  • Consult with designated Safeguarding Officer to undertake risk assessments and ensure safeguarding as a priority with fundraising events and activities

Skills and Requirements:

  • Ability to travel
  • Formal learning or training in fundraising and knowledge of fundraising methodologies is desirable
  • Demonstrating a track record in fundraising is essential
  • Knowledge of charitable grant giving organisations, funding policies, data protection, and fundraising best practise
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Experience of understanding and interpreting accounts and financial information
  • Ability to prepare cost and cash flow projections for proposals
  • Knowledge of GDPR and fundraising regulated
  • Strong time management skills and organisation
  • Good digital skills
