What you'll be doing…

We are seeking an accomplished Commercial Director to drive exponential growth across our Fashion, Beauty and Homes portfolio.

Experience in the Media and Advertising Industry is essential.

Future Plc boasts a portfolio of exceptional brands in this sector, underscoring its leadership in these vibrant markets., with iconic brands like WhoWhatWear, Marie Claire, Homes & Gardens, Living Etc and Ideal Home at the forefront. 

You will create and lead the strategy for growth. This role is essential as we continue our significant investment into these markets and our brands.

The Commercial Director will be tasked with providing the strategic vision, direction, and leadership needed to grow our commercial revenues. You will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy and action plan to deliver strong sustainable growth. This role requires a leader with a proven track record in driving commercial success, particularly someone who has strong relationships and influence within West End agencies, and someone who can inspire the team, foster a culture of high performance, and deliver innovative strategies that resonate in a competitive market. 

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Development and Execution:

  • Collaborate with the UK Group Commercial Director and Head of Commercial to craft and implement a robust commercial strategy for the Fashion, Beauty, and Homes portfolio.
  • Lead the development and execution of actionable plans to achieve exponential growth in these markets.

Revenue Growth and Stabilisation:

  • Develop and implement strategies to stabilise and increase commercial revenues, ensuring sustainable long-term growth.
  • Identify and exploit new market opportunities to drive significant revenue expansion.

Market Influence and Agency Relationships:

  • Leverage existing strong relationships within West End agencies to secure strategic partnerships and advantageous deals.
  • Expand the company’s influence within the fashion, beauty, and homes sectors to enhance market presence.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Inspire, lead, and manage the commercial team, fostering a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop team members, ensuring they have the skills and motivation to achieve their targets.

Financial Oversight and Performance Management:

  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial planning to ensure we grow revenues YoY
  • Regularly report on commercial performance, utilising KPIs and other metrics to track progress and adjust strategies as needed.

Customer and Stakeholder Relationship Management:

  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, addressing needs and concerns effectively.
  • Build strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders to foster loyalty and drive business growth.

Innovation and Competitive Edge:

  • Drive the creation and implementation of innovative strategies that keep the company at the forefront of industry trends and advancements.
  • Ensure the company’s offerings are competitive and meet market demands.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., Creative, Partnerships, Planning) to ensure alignment and support for commercial initiatives.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration across the organisation to achieve strategic objectives.

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve…

  • Experience managing sales organisations and teams
  • Excellent leadership skills with the confidence and maturity to have instant credibility at all levels of an organisation
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of the digital media landscape, and its workings
  • Experience and knowledge in the Home Interest, Beauty and Fashion markets
  • Technology and digital knowledge, with an understanding of industry trends in streaming media, digital and programmatic sales
  • Strong business acumen and analytic capability to develop sales strategies and perform and speak to competitive analysis
  • Strong sales strategist and the ability to translate customer requirements into Future capabilities and services
  • Demonstrable experience in achieving results in a complex, distributed organisation
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, and empathetically with diverse audiences, including key clients and decision-makers
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to drive a team to a common mission within scope, schedule, and budget
