Job Title: Internal IT Engineer

Salary: £25,000 and £30,000 DOE

Location: Liverpool (hybrid working)

Working Hours: 09:00 to 17.30 Monday to Friday.

(From time to time you will be expected to work outside of these for travel or other systems or support work.)

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Internal IT team at ARO. It will be almost entirely focussed on the Arrow IT platform, it’s users and critical third-party stakeholders. You will be working closely with the Senior IT Infrastructure Specialist and IT Manager ensuring that our IT platform, hosted in our Tier 3 Data Centre, is meeting the needs of the business. You will also be instrumental in setting up an excellent IT Governance and System Housekeeping framework. As the Internal IT Engineer you must be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. As part of your role, you may be expected to work outside of the standard working hours for travel or other systems or support work.

Please note that this is a Hybrid role with onsite requirement 3 days a week. You must be able to commute to the office and have your own transport.

What you'll do

  • Administering a mixed server estate including MS Server, Exchange and SQL servers in a virtualised environment. These are running versions from 2008 to 2016.
  • Helping to provide a great IT support service to our geographically dispersed and diverse user base.
  • Monitoring network and platform performance and taking a proactive approach to support
  • Keeping up to date with software patching across the platform and ensuring our Information Security is excellent
  • Managing a user base operating in an O365 environment
  • Working with the IT Manager to create and deliver an IT strategy that reflects the goals of the business
  • Working with our critical third-party suppliers and providers
  • Administering LAN / WAN hardware and router configurations
  • Server virtualisation in Microsoft Hyper-V / VMware• Managing the ARO VEEAM backup estate
  • Keeping the Microsoft Licensing position in order• Creating an excellent IT governance framework and ensure we are compliant with respect to GDPR, Cyber Essentials and other accreditations
  • Willing to spend time in various ARO locations and working to promote a positive image for ARO

Requirements

What are we looking for?

Essential:

• Server Operating Systems including Server 2012 and 2016
• Exchange 2016 and Active Directory
• Hyper V / VMWare
• Exposure to VEEAM
• Comfortable with most server configurations. Including RAID arrays and directly attached SANS.
• Network switch configuration including but not limited to VLAN, IP Subnetting and QOS.
• Windows desktop operating systems and popular Microsoft Office applications.
• Firewalling (WatchGuard / Meraki) /VLAN Experience / router and connectivity troubleshooting
• PC hardware and Printer hardware
• WIFI troubleshooting
• Sound IP troubleshooting skills including DHCP, DNS, IP addressing
• Detailed understanding of O365 software stack including Teams and SharePoint.
• Excellent Communication skills
• Excellent problem solver
• Strong teamwork and comfortable working under own direction
• Great Initiative and ability to work well in a crisis
• Positive attitude & willingness to progress and learn
• Accepts that a role in IT is not a typical ‘9 to 5’ role

Desirable

• Working knowledge of ServiceNow
• Worked withing an ITIL framework
• Knowledge of VOIP telephony
