The Team

The role

This role reports to the Head of FP&A and will support finance business partnering to senior management across GBG’s Central Services functions (i.e. Technology, Finance, People, Marketing, etc.), as well as their management teams. Finance Business Partners provide solution-focused, professional advice and guidance to the organization to ensure financial risk is mitigated and financial opportunity is taken in order to enable innovation and allow commercialism to flourish.

Whilst there is an emphasis on cost management and continually improving reporting and business insights, the role includes supporting projects, new business initiatives, preparing informative commentary for monthly flash and management accounts, working on budgets and forecasts, and analysing allocations.

This role will have full ownership of Finance BP support for central and enabling functions across the group, which will include: People Team, Facilities, Finance, Legal & risk, Governance, Group Marketing, Executive and Corporate Comms. The role will also work closely with the Finance BP with responsibility for Technology and Product, offering support and cover as needed.

What you will do

You will:

  • Finance BP ownership for central and enabling functions as noted above.
  • Have Finance BP responsibility for GBG’s Impact – this would include measurement/reporting of current ESG key metrics, as well as building a more comprehensive picture of non-finance KPIs (fraud detected, under-age persons protected, failed deliveries prevented, new lines of code written, office attendance, miles traveled, training hours deployed, charitable hours donated etc)
  • Have responsibility for the overview of People data used within Finance – vacancies, leavers, joiners, transfers, and pay review process.
  • Be responsible (together with FP&A Manager) for monitoring and improving data quality in our transaction recording – e.g. sectors, customers, geography
  • Constant focus on driving efficiency in our reporting and partnering, utilising new technologies as appropriate.
  • Potential for involvement in Finance Projects
  • Prepare and present cost and headcount management information and insights for multiple support functions, working with various software tools available to us to develop and deliver self-serve dashboards
  • Working with the Finance Operations team to ensure the integrity of the month-end P&L, support the monthly forecasting processes and supply accrual data where required.
  • Build a strong rapport with the function stakeholders and become a key member of the business partnering team to support the financial decision-making process.
  • Assisting with the budgeting and forecasting for multiple functions, and monitor material changes for the rolling forecast
  • Analyze headcount and work with People Team and the functions to ensure the monthly numbers are correctly reported and forecast.
  • Support the review and update of the function cost allocations as required and complete an annual signoff with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support the senior FBP in partnering with procurement on the financials of new contracts and renewals and be a purchase order approver for designated cost areas.
  • Supporting the wider FBP team on ad-hoc projects and analysis where required.

Requirements

  • Qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
  • Attention to detail and a strong understanding of financial control.
  • Strong planning and analytical skills capability and experience.
  • Solid business and commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for building successful relationships within the business environment.
  • Experience in thinking around problems, identifying, and then implementing solutions.
  • Ability and flexibility to plan, organize, and prioritize workloads to achieve pre-determined deadlines with ad hoc requests.
  • Strong IT system orientation including, Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills and experience in financial modeling. Knowledge of Power BI will be beneficial.
  • Ability and confidence to influence and provide challenges to the business, driving change where required.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of delivering concise and compelling messages to senior audiences effectively through the chosen business language of English.
  • Confident and self-motivated with a flexible approach to work.
