Together Housing is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join our team. As one of the largest housing associations in the North of England, we manage over 38,000 homes across the region. As a Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for managing the costs and budgets of construction projects within our organisation. You will prepare and analyse cost estimates, monitor project costs, and ensure that projects are delivered within budget. Your expertise in quantity surveying will contribute to the successful completion of our construction projects and the overall financial efficiency of our organisation.

Please note that we are hiring for Three positions: Two permanent role and one fixed-term contract for 12 months.

(Two roles will be working in our on Repairs/Empty homes & One on Asset/NetZero)

Requirements

Key responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor will include...

  • Pricing/forecasting the cost of the different components needed for Together Housing Groups responsive repair and empty home delivery
  • Tracking changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget projections in liaison with Project Managers
  • Selecting and/or sourcing construction materials in order to ensure Value For Money representation and support delivery managers in contract management to achieve VFM and procurement compliance.
  • To be the lead within Property Care for procurement activity including sourcing contractors and/or subcontractors and link with Procurement to team to ensure OJEU compliance
  • To support responsive repair and empty home teams in the measuring and valuing the work done within programmed works
  •  To assist the team in handling contract inquiries, which includes communicating with the legal representative of Together Housing Group and keeping track of payments to subcontractors.
  • Working closely with the client and collaborating with various construction professionals, including site managers, project managers, and site engineers.
  • Develop and implement innovative management strategies to achieve construction savings and control costs while maintaining high-quality standards. Conduct special studies to establish standard hour and cost data and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Consult with appointed contractors, colleagues across the THG family, Project Managers, RTCs and wider teams to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Review architectural plans for non standard schemes to  prepare quantity needs
  • Support Project Managers to monitor ongoing project and control shifts in project direction, scope, or budget
  • Provide risk assessment on programme delivery and escalate within THG risk management framework

We are looking for someone who has...

  • Full UK Drivers Licence
  • Relevant Qualification in Quantity Surveying
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction and quantity surveying practices
  • Experience in cost estimating, budgeting, and cost control
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and legal regulations
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to use quantity surveying software and tools, such as cost estimation and project management software
  • Previous experience of refurbishment projects

  • Starting banding of £45,033 - £50,333
  • Candidates with the required expertise, knowledge, and qualifications are eligible for a starting salary at the upper end of the pay scale.

  • You can work from either of our offices - Wakefield, Halifax, or Blackburn.
  • Hybrid Working - As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to work both on site or in one of our offices for approximately 60% of your working week. In addition, you will also have the flexibility to work from home for 40% of your week.
  • You will be responsible for the Yorkshire & the Humber region, Calderdale, Lancashire. Your role includes overseeing all geographical areas where our properties are located.
