We have a new opportunity as a Senior Service Designer to join our product team! We need a Senior Service Designer to work on the design, delivery, and improvement of new and existing services at Our Future Health. You will join the Researcher side of the organisation in a new team that looks at the end-to-end service and value offering to researchers. This team will focus on enabling researchers to perform novel, ground-breaking, and impactful research on the Our Future Health dataset.

This role will need to balance the varying needs of different types of researchers, the internal objectives of the organisation, tight regulatory requirements and ethical considerations, and more. It will work with experts in science, ethics, finance, clinicians, and user research to develop a service that delivers value to researchers, the organisation, and the wider public health landscape.

This will be the second Senior Service Designer role at Out Future Health and you will be supported by your Manager the Head of Design to Establish the Service Design Function. If you're an experienced Designer, looking for a new challenge, have experience within a similar role, or have delivered feedback projects within Health/Clinical or Research, we'd like to hear from you!

What You'll be doing:

As a Senior Service Designer, you'll be responsible for supporting the design and rollout of the UK's largest-ever health research programme. Working with cross-functional teams across Our Future Health, you'll lead the design of one or more services, from researching multiple types of users to service mapping to prototyping, design and implementation. You'll also support shaping how we work as multi-disciplinary teams, contributing to our design ethos and approach. 

  • Lead the design of our researcher and internal-facing services of Our Future Health. You'll seek to understand the varying and conflicting needs of your users and apply them across each stage of the service journey. 
  • Develop, maintain, and implement service design tooling and methodologies for use across the org 
  • Where appropriate, apply accessibility and inclusivity standards, working to increase inclusivity in the services you work on. 
  • Implement new ways of working within multi-disciplinary teams and advocate for design and user-centricity throughout the process. 
  • Contribute to and help shape design culture at Our Future Health  

Requirements

  • A desire to create meaningful impact through the designs and services you work on 
  • A portfolio that showcases your work 
  • Experience in leading the design of services, developing and testing multiple solutions to a problem 
  • Expert in service and journey mapping 
  • Demonstrated ability to create low fidelity prototypes to test early ideas of a service 
  • Demonstrated success in advocating for a user and service-centred approach 
  • Demonstrated success in working on live services with technical and business constraints 
  • Experience working within collaborative, multidisciplinary teams 
  • Experience working in an agile, iterative way 
  • Experience working with digital whiteboarding and/or other service mapping tooling 
  • Experience designing for varied accessibility and inclusivity needs

  • Experience in the design of services for healthcare, health research, pharmaceuticals, or other health-related field  
  • Experience in any of the other following fields: public services, tech for social good, academic and/or scientific research communities.
