KYN is a brand-new care home company focused on offering an elevated approach to care: Individualised journeys built around the needs and interests of our residents in beautiful surroundings with life-enriching practices.

Our first home, KYN BICKLEY, opened in February 2023. KYN BICKLEY is an 86-bedroom home offering each resident an elegant and comfortable bedroom, communal areas for dining and reclining; and inviting outdoor terraces overlooking landscaped gardens bordered by woodland. We have a further three care homes in development in London.

About the opportunity:

As a Care Lead (Nights) - you will be responsible for:

  • To support the Clinical Lead/Registered Nurse in delivering the highest standards of person-centred care to individuals who call a KYN residence their home whilst preserving their dignity, respect, and wellbeing
  • To administrate medication
  • To lead the night care team
  • To ensure the highest standard of individualised person-centred care and attention is delivered by you and those you supervise, in accordance with the residents’ individual care plans
  • To create a nurturing environment where our residents and their family members feel loved, happy, safe, and secure
  • To participate in clinical supervisions as required to support personal development and to promote an improved resident outcome
  • To ensure along with your team that our residents’ medical, physical, social, and emotional needs are met. You will also ensure they are involved in any decisions about their care to promote an exceptional quality of life in a nurturing and beautiful environment
  • To issue a daily report to the person in charge at the end of each shift relating to the care delivered to your designated residents noting any changes
  • To check that all documentation concerning nutrition and special dietary requirements is completed, reporting inadequate dietary and fluid intake to the Registered Nurse
  • To encourage residents to participate in recreational activities and help provide physical and mental stimulation in a person-centred way
  • To oversee the timely completion of daily care related documentation ensuring its accuracy (e.g., fluid balance charts, turn charts etc.)
  • To lead, motivate and mentor your team to ensure that strong relationships are developed with our residents
  • To write daily/nightly records of care delivered in the individual resident’s Daily Record (under the supervision of the Nurse in Charge where appropriate i.e., Nursing residents)
  • To contribute to the care planning process and accurately completing all necessary records for your designated residents
  • To participate in care reviews
  • To ensure the team anticipate and responds to the needs of the residents (e.g., prompt response to call bells/close supervision as required)
  • To collaborate with colleagues to ensure all delegated tasks have been carried out and accurately recorded by the members of the team
  • To act as the KYN Induction Partner to new team members and to coach and guide them through their induction
  • To support and develop new and less experienced Health Care Assistants through mentorship
  • To participate in clinical supervisions as required to support personal development and to promote an improved resident outcome
  • To attend all statutory training sessions making certain that practices reflect the learning outcomes of the training
  • To keep a reflective diary of how learning has influenced your practice
  • To attend any other training that KYN deems applicable to the role
  • Be familiar with and promote KYN’s values
  • To maintain confidentiality of information regarding residents, visitors, and team members
  • To communicate effectively and help to resolve any concerns that have been raised whilst working with the residents or members of the team
  • To actively participate in team meetings
  • To recognise the responsibility of all team members to make new residents, new team members and all visitors welcome and help to familiarise them with the home
  • To co-operate with, support and promote the work of colleagues regarding specific aspects of the home e.g. Infection Control
  • To adhere to all KYN’s policies and procedures
  • To ensure all aspects of the environment are clean and tidy, particularly the residents’ rooms and ensuite facilities
  • To be responsible for the Health and Safety of self, other team members, residents and visitors under the Health and Safety regulations
  • To report any hazards or potential hazards to the person in charge and take other appropriate action within the remit of your training and knowledge
  • To write and evaluate Care Plans as delegated by the Clinical Lead/Registered Nurse
  • To take responsibility for the administration of medications in line with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Guidance ‘The Handling of Medicines in Social Care’
  • To check controlled drugs with the Registered Nurse on duty adhering to KYN’s policies and procedures
  • Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and in adherence to the Wound Care Plan, replace wound dressings as required
  • To act as a reference point and support to all new Household Carers joining KYN
  • To act as the infection control lead
  • To be a link to the Registered Nurse with regards to the management of ongoing clinical issues i.e. falls / nutrition / tissue viability
  • Creating a nurturing environment where our residents and their family feel loved, happy, safe, and secure
  • Acting as a brand ambassador who demonstrates and leads the KYN values
