The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accounting Assistant to join and support our growing team! Reporting directly to the CFO, you will ensure our Finance department runs smoothly, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions. 

Our ideal candidate has experience in a similar role and is looking for the opportunity to apply their experience, take on projects and improve the function. It is a role where there is an opportunity to take charge of additional areas such as reporting as we continue to grow.

The role could be full time or part time (4 day work week) with hybrid or remote working depending on what suits the ideal candidate.

We’re bringing construction into the digital age by using AI to decarbonise concrete (which accounts for 8% of global carbon emissions). The team comes from all different countries and backgrounds, but we are all dedicated to building the future of construction more efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

Responsibilities

This role is a pivotal one for the team, it reports directly to the CFO, but will also involve developing close working relationships with sales, operations, and other parts of the business. We currently outsource AP and reconciliations, you will be responsible for reviewing and managing this resource. 

 Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support timely month-end financial close for multiple entities, including journal entries, cost allocations, and accruals.
  • Reviewing and monitoring all company and employee expenses.
  • Management of VAT returns.
  • Working closely with external accountants, deliver annual accounts for multiple entities.
  • Accountable for Accounts Receivable including ensuring all overdue balances are chased and escalated further as needed.
  • Processing and managing the balance sheet accounts, deferred income and accruals. 
  • Managing the fixed asset register.
  • Managing Accounts Payable and processing weekly payment runs.
  • Managing and processing payroll for the UK.
  • Managing and administering employee benefits including our pension scheme.

Salary - £40-45,000 dependent on experience

Hours - Open to full time or part time applicants (32 hours / 4 day work week)

About you:

  • 3yrs + accounting experience ideally in a fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures, experience with AP & AR & GL.
  • You have hands-on experience with accounting software (Xero or similar) and MS Excel.
  • Strong maths skills and the ability to work with numbers.
  • A “can do” attitude with bags of initiative, you love finding solutions and streamlining processes. 
  • Strong communication skills are essential. Cross-functional collaboration and relationship building are essential for success in this role
