Robert Walpole and Partners, an engineering consultancy based in Slough, is seeking a Civil Engineer with experience in Civil Engineering within the rail sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-profile rail infrastructure projects, helping to shape the future of transport networks while maintaining our commitment to engineering excellence. We are particularly looking for candidates with Network Rail experience, experience of the London Underground network would be beneficial but not essential.

Projects:

  • Rail Infrastructure – Track Drainage, embankment stabilisation, culverts, minor civils, temporary works, surveys and inspections

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Support:
  • Assist in managing rail infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
  • Provide technical input to project teams.
  • Contribute to ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Support the building and maintenance of strong relationships with clients, including railway operators and contractors.
    • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and contribute to innovative rail engineering solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including contractors, structural engineers, and environmental specialists.
    • Participate in fostering a culture of cooperation and inclusivity across teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards in rail engineering design and construction.
    • Assist in reviewing project deliverables to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

      5. Innovation:

      • Stay up-to-date with advancements in rail engineering, emerging technologies, and best practices.
      • Contribute ideas for innovative engineering solutions and sustainable rail practices.

      Requirements

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
      • 1-3 years of experience in civil engineering with exposure to rail projects.
      • Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised institution (e.g., ICE) is desirable.
      • Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, and familiarity with railway-specific software tools.

      Skills:

      • Sound knowledge of civil engineering principles and railway engineering.
      • Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
      • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced rail environment.
