Join us as a Production Planner in Glasgow. We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Production Planner to join our operations team. The Production Planner will oversee all manufacturing planning on a shift basis to ensure optimal use of resources and equipment, meeting quality, production, and customer targets cost-effectively. This role requires close communication and coordination with various onsite and offsite functions, including customer care, transportation, and the master planner, as well as suppliers of raw materials, packaging, and storage.

As a Production Planner, your daily tasks will include:

  • Production activities related to the manufacture of activated carbon and monitor the quality of carbon grades produced.
  • Customer orders, planning, and preparing production schedules to maintain adequate stock levels and meet customer orders with correct dispatch dates.
  • The production plan around changes in customer orders, plant breakdowns, milling and packaging issues, and off-quality products.
  • With the Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, and central planning function to create a yearly production plan aligned with the site production wheel.
  • The production wheel delivers the most cost-effective model for the site, specifically planning recipe 6 C carbons, acid management, and olive stone flour generation,
  • Weekly and longer-term production plans,
  • Production orders in JDE daily/weekly for WIP and FPI items to allow the operations team to administer their production,
  • Monthly stock counts for raw materials and packaging,
  • With suppliers of raw materials, packaging, and storage of intermediate acid to meet production planning requirements,
  • Coordinating with customers for sales of intermediate and spent acid, and with customer care and transport to ensure on-time shipment and order advancement.
  • The efforts of Shift Managers to ensure effective operation of the process and delivery of the production plan,
  • Participate in cross-functional root cause analysis meetings,
  • The development of operations procedures with a focus on SHE, ISO, HACCP, Halal, and Kosher requirements,
  • The execution of re-processing non-conforming C carbon products,
  • On the responsibility for any other reasonable duties as required by the line manager.

Requirements

  • Least 5 years of planning experience in the industry,
  • Competence in a chemical manufacturing process or similar,
  • Secondary education (at least 4 relevant Higher),
  • Qualification IOSH or equivalent,
  • In management of production planning,
  • Communication and analytical skills,
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety,
  • Understanding of Product Uniformity/Variation and Manufacturing Process Control,
  • Working within ISO 9001 and 14001 management systems,
  • Computer literacy skills.
