The Position

This is a new role with three key areas of responsibility:

1.      Developing and delivering revenue-generating cricket coaching programmes.

2.      Leading the Foundation’s Disability Development Programme.

3.      Leading the Foundation’s work to increase participation amongst women and girls.

Building on the SCF’s existing Pride of Lions programme, and other paid-for coaching offers, create a comprehensive new programme with two complimentary objectives; to raise the standard of cricket in Surrey by providing training courses for young people that are looking to improve their skills, and to generate revenue for Surrey Cricket Foundation that can be used to fund our various community programmes that are provided to participants for free. The Manager will have line management responsibility for a coordinator who will support the ongoing delivery of these training courses.

Additionally, the Manager will lead a team of Development Officers running key participation programmes and will work together with these Officers to evolve, continuously improve and expand their programmes. Currently this involves Women & Girls Development and Disability Cricket Development, two areas where Surrey is very successful

Requirements

What you’ll do

  • Research the market for cricket coaching in Surrey and develop a programme plan for launching a comprehensive SCF offering
  • Conduct an extensive review of the current Pride of Lions programme
  • Launch and implement a new programme of paid-for cricket coaching across the county that is worthy of the Surrey brand
  • Manage the delivery of the programme on an ongoing basis ensuring a consistently high standard of coaching
  • Continually review and improve the programme
  • Work with the relevant Officer to deliver cohesive and effective participation and growth programmes in Disability Cricket and Women & Girls Development
  • Ensure the Surrey maintains its market leading position in Women & Girls participation and Disability Cricket
  • Manage the programmes’ budgets
  • Liaise with all key funding partners and sponsors ensuring delivery of all respective programmes providing reports and feedback as required
  • Secure additional investment and grant funding for programmes
  • Chair the Surrey women’s league governance group, working closely with the Leagues Manager to transition women’s cricket into the Surrey Cricket Championship.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature to those described above, which may be allocated from time to time as directed by the Line Manager

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:

Essential:

  • Project management experience or strong understanding of project management, including design, implementation, and evaluation
  • Commercial or business development experience
  • Sports Development experience in either a paid or voluntary capacity
  • Experience of developing and delivering strategies
  • Experience of managing a team, volunteers and/or casual employees
  • Experience of managing key stakeholders
  • Understanding and knowledge of Women & Girls and Disability Cricket
  • The ability to develop effective and beneficial working relationships with a range of stakeholders and suppliers
  • Creativity and the ability to explore and implement new ideas
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer literacy, including MS Office
  • Good attention to detail
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours as necessary
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

 

Desirable:

  • A keen interest and understanding of cricket
  • A full driving licence with access to own transport
  • Experience of writing and supporting funding applications for grants and sponsorship
  • Experience of coaching cricket

 

Flexibility around working hours and locations within Surrey are vital to the success of this role.

A Satisfactory ECB DBS Check, First Aid, Safeguarding and the right to work in the UK will be required.

This role can be based at Kia Oval (London) or at George Abbot School (Guildford)
