Role Overview
The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that promote literacy, critical thinking, and a love of literature. You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, supporting student progress, and contributing to curriculum development within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English to students at Key Stages 3, 4, and possibly Key Stage 5 (GCSE and A-Level)
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with school policies
  • Contribute to curriculum development and collaborate with the English department on best practices
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports both academic achievement and student well-being
  • Participate actively in the school’s extracurricular English activities, including book clubs, writing competitions, and other enrichment opportunities

Candidate Profile
We are seeking a qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a degree in English or a related subject. Experience teaching English at GCSE and A-Level is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be passionate about literature and language, capable of inspiring students to appreciate the power of written and spoken English.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Degree in English, Literature, or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4, with A-Level teaching experience considered advantageous
