This is an exciting time to join a growing team as a Design Engineer who will have the opportunity to be involved in exciting new big infrastructure projects. The principal function of this position is to work within the team of design engineers producing designs and drawings of turnouts, rail crossings and other rail track installations including high speed. These drawings are to be checked and verified for the complete specification in order to produce bill of materials used in assembly and manufacturing. You will be responsible for producing 2D drawings using MicroStation and Siemens NX, in the near future 3D drawings and providing training and support to junior staff whilst developing standards within the team.  

Design Engineer supports sales, project, manufacturing and customers with detailed product and specification knowledge. The essential task of this role is to produce accurate drawings and accompanying specifications for rail turnouts and crossings. Accuracy and attention to detail are prerequisites for this position. Daily tasks include:

  • Production of detailed 1-50 scale layout drawings in 2D,
  • Alignment of 3D drawings to specific site requirements,
  • Detailed documentation of technical specifications and manufacturing instructions
  • Review and production of bill of materials,
  • Timely delivery of technical information to supply chain,
  • Technical support to sales department and customers,
  • Attendance at design interface meetings with internal teams and clients.

The candidate should have hands on approach to problem solving with "can do" attitude. The following skills and experiences will assure success in this position:

  • Proficiency in CAD drawing using MicroStation. (Knowledge of AutoCAD, Siemens NX or other drawing tools is sufficient to make transition to MicroStation.)
  • Prior experience in drawing rail tracks, turnouts or other steel-base products.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office package.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet the deadlines.
  • Methodical and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills
  • At least 5 years of experience in similar position.
  • German would be advantageous but not essential.
