Engineering Director – RC Frame & Groundwork Contractor

£90,000 - £130,000 + Package

London

About the Employer:

There are very few companies I would recommend at this level, but this business truly has developed a brand and reputation based on excellence. They can deliver projects of pretty much any size and are currently working with some of the best developers and main contractors in the UK. Current package values range from £10m up to £60m each and include reinforced concrete frames, basements, and associated groundworks. Turnover is set to reach circa £200m over this year and they show no signs of stopping there.

Having met the owners of the business and the directors who head up the various departments, I guarantee that you’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the best in the industry. And more than that, you’ll feel the positive energy coming from each of them concerning the business’s current standings and the growth path they are on. This truly is a business to rival all others in this specialist sector and one that is focused on being the best.

About the Opportunity:

As the Engineering Director of this specialist contractor, it will be your responsibility to manage and lead the whole engineering team across 20+ live sites in and around London. This will include recruitment, development, and career planning at all levels from setting out engineers through to project engineers. You will have involvement in the preconstruction phases to make sure engineering needs are being handled and the right teams are being allocated to each project. This is a pivotal role as the technical requirements of each project differ, and you will be called on by site teams to help problem solve issues and offer guidance when needed. This opportunity will report directly to the construction director and managing director of the business. Current project/package sizes vary from £10m to £60m each and include large reinforced concrete frames/structures, basements, and associated groundworks.

About the Requirements:

To be considered all applicants must be degree-qualified in civil engineering or structural engineering. I have been instructed to consider those from an engineering management background or those who have operated at a project management or contracts management level and are keen to move into a position like this. Due to the technical nature of the works involved, candidates must have a proven history working for similar reinforced concrete frames, basements, and groundworks subcontractors in the UK. Outside of that, I am open to having confidential conversations with those interested.

About the Package:

In line with the level of responsibility and position within the business, I am looking to consider individuals looking to earn anywhere from £90,000 to £130,000 per annum. Additional benefits such as car allowances, travel, and bonuses will be available and all package elements will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis depending on experience and suitability for the role.
