English Teacher and Cover Supervisor

£25,000 - £35,000/annum

Progress Teachers are working with a Leicestershire Secondary School to appoint a dynamic and responsive English Teacher to work a hybrid teaching / cover supervision role. The successful candidate will be required to plan and deliver English lessons two days a week, providing general school-wide cover for the rest of the week. 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and impactful lessons for students across KS3 and KS4 for two days a week.
  • Deliver general lesson cover across the rest of the school for three days a week.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
  • Regularly monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments, providing meaningful and targeted feedback to support their learning journey.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement effective teaching strategies that will maximise progress for all students.
  • Participate in school events, progress evenings, and professional development activities as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Teaching Qualifications: A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE with QTS, or equivalent) with a focus on English Literature / Language is advantageous, but experienced non-qualified teachers will also be considered for the role.
  • Subject Knowledge: A degree in English Literature or a related field, with a strong understanding of key concepts and a passion for the subject.
  • Teaching Experience: Proven experience as a Secondary English teacher with a successful track record of student achievement is advantageous. However, strong ECTs will also be considered for the role.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Commitment to Inclusion: A commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment that caters to the needs of all students.
  • A DBS on the Update Service or Willingness to obtain.
  • 2x Satisfactory References.
