Job description

As plant electrician at a Gloucester factory you will be responsible for the electrical/electronic maintenance of plant and equipment, ensuring that all plant, equipment and site services are in good working order to support the requirements of a 24-hour manufacturing site.

Key Accountabilities

Fault finding, diagnostics and day-to-day repairs will form part of the responsibilities of this role, alongside delivering scheduled PPMs and carrying out installations of new production assets and relocation of existing equipment.

You will have control of and need to effectively interact with contractors, maintaining key relationships with suppliers, manufacturers and specialist technical service providers.

The ability to aid in the creation of Planned Preventive Maintenance documentation as well as the ability to review against this documentation and record/repair findings in a safe and timely manner will be essential.

The role will also involve a level of cross-working with other engineering disciplines, including working on and with pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.

Another key responsibility is in assisting the plant management team in complying with all H&S responsibilities, legal compliance and maintenance management in respect of production lines, services, buildings and all other ancillary equipment.

We would require some flexibility around working hours as required in line with business requirements.

Duties

· Working to all appropriate safety legislation and guidance at all times - including working to BS7678:2018 and Health and Safety at Work etc. Act, 1974..

· Attending and rectifying production breakdowns.

· Electrical fault finding and maintenance.

· Maintaining and repairing a wide variety of machinery.

· Delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance of production lines and other production machinery to schedule.

· Regular electrical safety testing of equipment and machinery.

· Support other Engineering staff in carrying out maintenance operations and other key delivery projects.

· Machine setting and adjustment of standardised parameters

· Carry out electrical installations and upgrade work around the plant, as required.

· Maintenance of lighting systems including emergency lighting

· Electrical Maintenance of offices and office equipment.

Experience

· Candidates need to come from an Industrial / Manufacturing / Plant background, with good understanding of manufacturing operations and challenges.

· Experience of delivering electrical maintenance, including industrial applications and working with 3 phase electrical installations.

· Experience of handling reactive electrical maintenance and breakdowns in a fast-paced production environment.

· Have extensive electrical knowledge / training, with a proven track record.

· Have experience of working with different types of machine controls and interfaces, including PLCs, HMIs and Inverter drives.

· Excellent communication skills, with an ability to converse at all levels.

· Be able to analyse process problems to diagnose, report upon and solve them.

· Possess basic mechanical skills.

· Experience of mechanical/hydraulic drive systems would be advantageous.

Qualifications/Requirements for the Role

· Level 3 City and Guilds 2365 Electrotechnical Craft or similar qualification.

· City and Guilds 2382-22 (18th Edition, Second amendment).

· NVQ/ONC/HNC or additional relevant qualification.

· Relevant industrial electrical experience.

· Time served apprenticeship with a minimum of 5 years in manufacturing/plant environment – desirable.

· Proven delivery on design and project work – desirable.
