Trading as emap for its B2B division, Metropolis International is a fast-growing business, privately owned Media Group with over £50m of annual revenue, structured in two divisions – consumer media, and business-to-business media. In both parts of the business, we run print magazines, digital content and both face-to-face and virtual awards, conferences and other events. Metropolis is actively looking at acquiring more media businesses. We employ over 480 people in offices in West London, Croydon, Fleet street,  Devon and Dublin.

Overall Purpose of the Role:

Reporting & supporting the Head of Business Partnering and working alongside another Business Partnering Accountant.

Key Responsibilities:

Month end reporting, ensuring timely and accurate production of management reporting, with detailed analysis of major variances against budgets and forecasts

Production of forecasts and budgets working in support of the commercial business

Lead meetings when reviewing Month end/Forecast/Budget

Business Partnering including decision support for divisional Managing Directors

Assisting with finance integration of new acquisitions and implementation of new systems and business processes

Identify efficiencies, cost saving opportunities and review revenue enhancing opportunities

Skills and Experience:

Part Qualified (CIMA, ACA or ACCA) Graduate Accountant

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in commerce and industry

Experience preferred in a similar role

Good knowledge of UK accounting principles and procedures

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Good IT literacy, especially finance systems, and sales order/CRM systems

Strong planning and problem-solving skills

Ability to analyse information and processes

Motivation to develop and maintain internal and external relationships

Proactive thinking around business growth & challenging business partners where necessary

Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation

Personal Specifications and Core Competencies:

Bright, keen, proactive self-starter with a passion for improving systems and processes, identifying efficiencies, cost saving opportunities and revenue enhancing opportunities

Commercial, interested in business and in adding value to commercial managers’ thinking

Experience of liaising with non-finance staff and building relationships

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Logical thinker with good problem-solving abilities

Hard working organized and efficient with a passion for detail

Excellent Excel skills

Calm under pressure with prior experience of producing high quality work to deadlines

Good team player & strong inter-personal skills

1st time passes in accountancy exams

Academic (e.g. 2.1 degree or above)

This exciting position is a full-time hybrid role. 2 days in the office, 3 days from home. This could change over time depending on business needs.
