CNC Programmer Summary

A Precision CNC Manufacturing Company Based in Hertfordshire, covering a broad range of Sectors Including Aerospace, Defence, Motorsport, and Robotics. We operate a high-quality engineering facility that offers a clinical and precise working environment, utilising state of the art machine tools and supporting equipment. We are seeking a hardworking, precise, and highly experienced CNC Programmer to add to our well-established team of CNC Engineers.

You will get the chance to produce highly complex components that test your abilities on the cutting edge of machined componentry.

The Role & Responsibilities

The day to day role will be developing CNC programs for newly developed parts and production components that require more stringent cycle times using Openmind Software to produce components on our DMG Mori Machines:

Working from tooling information given by programmer

• Developing production methodology to produce the component

• Choosing the correct tooling required for the job

• Creating comprehensive documentation for the Setter-Operator to follow.

• Conducting program simulations to ensure program integrity

• Potentially producing a first off component where required

• Carrying out first off inspection checks

• Adjusting programs to overcome dimensional errors

• Engineering and producing tooling and work holding for further machine operations

• Collaborating with inspectors to ensure drawings tolerances are met

• Self-management of work load to work efficiently

• Working to 5C

Key skills that for this role which should include most listed but should not be limited to:

• Good time keeping

• Good understanding of setting & operating CNC Mills

• Understanding engineering drawings

• Carrying out first off inspection checks

• Able to review and understand CMM inspection reports

• Acute attention to detail

• Very able to program CNC Mills/ Lathes

• Very competent with machining methods for different materials and shapes

• Able to produce accurate programs on complex parts without requiring many adjustments

Experience:

• Previous experience Setting and operating CNC Lathes and Mills

• 5 Years’ experience programming prototype work

• Ideally experience using Heidenhain controls and DMG Machines

• Background producing CNC machined components for Motorsport & Aerospace

• Experience programming Complex components out of varying materials

• Preferably skilled on HyperCAD and Hypermill Software

Education:

• BEng (Hons) Graduate (Preferred)

• Level 3 B-Tech Mechanical Engineering

• NVQ Level 3 Apprentice Trained
