£50,000 - £70,000/annum + company benefits - Pension etc

Purpose of the Job 

  1. Oversee EV Powertrain development team, general line management for team of up to 6 professional engineers
  2. Present DVP updates to the Management Team, Board of Directors and customer representatives
  3. Oversee and contribute to the creation and delivery design validation plans in relation to electric machines
  4. Support the development of inhouse test facilities in order to complete validation of e-machines in house to internal and external standards
  5. Evaluate external test facilities, create clear Statement of Works and negotiate cost effective contracts for the delivery of test services alongside procurement
  6. Lead the Resolution of failure modes and provide design input in order to ensure E-Drives meet product specifications
  7. Work in a small team with a high level of autonomy, managing own day to day work load

Main duties to be carried out

  1. Definition, development, planning and implementation of tests for the company’s range of EV components and possibly prototype vehicles
  2. The development of test requirements in conjunction with DVP, 8D, and FMEAs
  3. In turn this may involve supporting the build and commissioning of test systems and analysis of test data
  4. Work closely with test technicians who will execute the tests
  5. Drive product development SOPs in line with product quality standards
  6. Undertake engineering calculations and design verifications
  7. Liaise with external test houses, writing Statement of Requirements (SOR) documents evaluating quotations and arranging for completion of tests to company requirements
  8. Analysis of relevant test standards in order to create test plans attain certification
  9. Support and lead where necessary cross function DFMEA reviews at component level
  10. Take ownership of tasks
  11. Support first off prototype build events
  12. Support and contribute to cross functional design review meetings
  13. Attend project review meetings and deliver on key milestones
  14. Demonstrate a keen desire to learn and develop your skills and engineering knowledge.

Qualifications and Experience required

  1. Degree in mechanical or automotive engineering OR mechanical design experience within a precision engineering environment.
  2. Test and calibration experience, ideally in relation to electric machines
  3. Test engineering experience
  4. Environmental test experience, ideally in relation to electric machines
