Randstad Engineering are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to come and work for DS Smith, Chryston within the Engineering Team.

Role: Mechanical Fitter

Location: Chryston

Rate: £14.43

Shift Patterns: 6.30am - 4pm (OT Available x1.5)

The role would have the ideal candidate starting as soon as possible.

The Role

The role would require somebody working on a mix of construction and production/manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate would take pride in their work, with a heavy focus on Health and Safety in the workplace, always executing their best work with each task.

Role Dynamic

  • Be accountable for your own and others health and safety whilst at work, operating in line with SSOW (safe systems of work) and company procedures to enable a safe working environment.
  • Take a proactive approach to continually improve housekeeping standards in engineering workshops around the site.
  • To work in support of a preventative maintenance strategy. Undertaking work of a predictive preventive and repair nature. Bringing to the table the ability of performing
  • reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring the machinery is up and running as soon as safely possible, reducing downtimes.
  • Meet and exceed set KPIs for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Ensure contractors are appropriately supervised and comply with contractual commitments and site operating processes.
  • Document and communicate as necessary comprehensive maintenance records.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and colleagues to improve team and cross-departmental relations.
  • Ensure appropriate training is completed for both self and others to maintain professional and technical skills.

About You

  • Evidence of PPM & Reactive implementation, delivery and control
  • Must have a demonstrable background in a Mechanical environment
  • Continuous Improvement/Operational Excellence
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-shift manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable using computer packages
  • Positive outlook when referring to work
  • Pride in your work
  • Desirable skill of working in confined spaces
  • Desirable skill of working at heights
