Role: Duty Manager (Security)

Location: The Gate, Newcastle

Hours/Days: 4 on 4 off, days (7am-7pm), nights (7pm-7am) and weekends

Pay Rate: £14.25 per hour

The Role of the Duty Manager (Security):

To supervise the security and cleaning team and day-to-day cleaning and security operations, leading on incidents and issues, liaising with the customer, ensuring smooth running of the contract in accordance with the Assignment Instructions, overseeing rostering and personnel issues. To support the Duty Manager roster across The Gate, to cover sickness/holiday.

Key Responsibilities of the Duty Manager (Security):

  • Supervise the team and day-to-day delivery of all contracted site cleaning/security services, delivering excellent customer care and operational standards at all time whilst maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Ensure Assignment Instructions, Risk Assessments, Health & Safety policies and other control measures are adhered to.
  • Ensure the highest levels of customer service are always maintained by the team.
  • Supervise and take the lead on all site issues, including incidents, accidents, emergencies, and evacuations, supporting and advising members of the security team and client representatives.
  • Ensure the team actively and effectively patrol, answer alarms and investigate disturbances, take appropriate action and submit appropriate reports.
  • Manage and maintain the contract control room, reception, alarm systems, CCTV/equipment, access/egress control and other contracted security/cleaning services as required.
  • Manage personnel and performance issues including rostering, site induction and training, holidays, absence, pay queries, etc., in line with  HR policies and procedures.
  • Produce formalised reports across all areas of service delivery as required including weekly/monthly reports in line with contract requirements.
  • Liaise with the client, building effective working relationships with management, staff, contractors, site tenants and their representatives, to ensure smooth running of the contract.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve site issues – no shows, conflict situations, etc. – in an efficient and consistent way in accordance with company policy, escalating to Line Manager as appropriate.
  • Any other reasonable requests/duties as required by the client/company.
  • Respond to Fire and Emergency incidents in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.
  • Co-ordinate emergencies and evacuations as directed by site management.
  • Record and report to management all equipment faults, health and safety hazards and unsafe working practices.
  • Enforce health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure accurate log books, incident reports and records are submitted in a timely manner and written professionally.
  • Ensure accurate log books, incident reports and records are maintained by the security team.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records for the members of the security team.
  • Provide CCTV and other evidence in the event of an incident on site in accordance with the site Assignment Instructions.
  • Complete daily/weekend handovers to fellow Duty Managers/Client to ensure a seamless transition of service delivery.

The ideal Duty Manager (Security) will have:

  • Experience in the same or similar role
  • SIA and CCTV Licence
  • First Aid at Work Cert
  • Fire Marshal certificate would be desirable
  • Capable of problem-solving, dealing with a variety of situations and are very customer service-focused
  • You have evidence of strong organizational and time management skills
  • Able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
  • Vigilant and take a “can do” approach and attitude to all tasks
  • Computer literate, with the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office applications
