YJS Officer - Restorative Justice lead
Full Time 37 hours per week
Temporary 12 months maternity cover
You will ensure the voice of those harmed by offences committed by children and young people is integral to youth justice processes, allowing victims to make informed choices about involvement in restorative justice.
This post will have responsibility for making contact with victims of crime and ensuring adherence to the victim code of practice. This will involve direct contact with victims of crime so will require excellent communication and engagement skills and an ability to work sensitively to their needs.
You will manage a caseload and need skills in explaining legal processes, listening, report writing, advocating and delivering restorative justice interventions. Experience of working with victims or restorative approaches would be highly beneficial to this role. This post will be based in Exeter and can involve some home working but would require an ability to travel within Devon.
For this position you will need a relevant degree level qualification or level 4 vocational qualification, or proven experience at that level within a children’s services environment.
Devon Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency team made up of staff from a variety of professional backgrounds who work with young people and their families to reduce offending and re-offending. You should be enthusiastic and motivated to work creatively with children and young people, their parents/carers, other professionals and with victims of crime.
