Site Manager – Substations – Southeast of England – Contract Position

Are you an experienced Site Manager with a proven tracker record of delivering Substation builds and refurbishments ranging from 11kv-132kv? Are you able to lead and deliver in fast paced environments? If so, please read below.

As the Site Manager, you will be responsible to oversee construction activities on behalf of the principal contractor. You will be an integral part of a team responsible for delivering high-voltage substation projects, including the refurbishment and construction of switch houses and transformer enclosures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily site activities, managing operatives and subcontractors from start to completion.
  • Develop and implement safety documentation, including Health and Safety Plans, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments.
  • Identify and address training requirements for site personnel.
  • Serve as the primary contact for client liaison, including audits and progress meetings.
  • Procure materials using computer-based systems.
  • Notify the line manager of potential variations and maintain accurate records.
  • Compile documents and As Built records for handover files.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • HNC/Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Electrical discipline or equivalent.
  • Certifications in CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme, Temporary Works Supervisor.
  • Background in construction and the electricity industry, competency to work in substations up to 132kV.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts, current Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation
  • Cost/Value reporting, IT literacy (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Full valid driving license.

Logistics:

  • Start date would be ASAP
  • Contract length can be negotiated depending on future flexibility
  • The role is OUTSIDE IR35
  • 10 Hour Day
