Social Work Service Manager (Locum)

Position: Social Work Service Manager
Hourly Rate: £53 per hour (umbrella rate)
Type: Locum
Contract Duration: (9 months, fixed term contract) Until March 2025

The Family Support and Protection Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Service Manager specializing in child protection and care proceedings work. This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for the operational management of the Family Support and Protection Service, ensuring adherence to Council policies, procedures, and national service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head of Service in the development and delivery of the Family Support and Protection Service.
• Contribute to service and development planning.
• Lead on thematic areas within the service, providing specialist knowledge and skills in Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection, and care proceedings.
• Provide operational support to your teams, ensuring quality assurance.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the service in line with Council policies and national standards.
• Deputize for the Head of Service and represent the service at external meetings.
• Attend and present at Family Support and Protection Service Management Boards, Local Safeguarding Boards, and other relevant meetings.

Essential Requirements:

• Degree level and/or professional qualification in Social Work, Education, or a related discipline.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• At least 4 years of post-qualification experience in a Child Protection and Court setting.
• At least 2 years of post-qualification management experience in a Child Protection and Court setting.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
• Social Work England (SWE) registration is essential.
