Telent are now looking for a Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer to join a talented team of Traffic Signals specialists in the Staffordshire/Stoke-on-Trent regions. Due to growth and demand from our customer(s), we in a position to grow our Traffic team in this region. This is a "Field based" role - the successful applicant MUST hold a full UK driving license and be comfortable to travel.

Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer - What you'll do:​​​​​​​

As a Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer, you will work closely with one of our experienced Traffic Engineers to troubleshoot, fix, maintain, and test a range of Traffic Signals / Traffic Lights and electrical equipment that is associated with this, in and around the Staffordshire/Stoke-on-Trent regions. Training isn't in a classroom, it is a healthy mix of 'on the job' learning, providing you with an opportunity to work towards an NVQ in Electrical Installations and Sector based certifications such as ECS and the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) Chapter 8, enhancing your knowledge and capabilities in this area of Engineering.

Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer - Who you are:

You will naturally have an interest in being 'hands on' and be willing to learn a new skillset. The prospect of troubleshooting, fixing, testing and maintaining (traffic) electrical equipment must excite you. Any previous experience working within an electrical or engineering environment is preferred but not essential, providing you are willing to embrace a new role and you are determined to learn.

Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer - Key requirements / behaviours:

  • Highly motivated, willing to learn on the job and via online sources
  • Ability to problem solve and provide ideas. Ultimately the job requires you to think outside the box, and work through "fault finding instructions"
  • Full UK Driving Licence holder
  • Able to and willing to undertake a Drugs & Alcohol test to ensure compliancy
  • Willing to be on "standby" once fully trained and competent
  • Have good people/communications skills; able to communicate at different levels with multiple stakeholders and multiple levels
