Independent Panel Member - Multiple Positions
Posted 11/06/2024 by Greater London Authority (GLA)
Are you dedicated to upholding standards?
Are you committed to promoting diversity in public appointments?
Do you have experience of senior-level board appointments?
The Greater London Authority is looking for a number of people to act as independent panel members to support Mayoral board appointments.
The Mayor of London makes a wide range of appointments to statutory boards, functional bodies, advisory commissions and other positions. These are key appointments to boards whose decisions touch the lives of people across London. Some of these appointments involve the use of an independent panel member, known as the ‘Independent Element’ to ensure the process is fair, open and transparent.
We are now looking to expand our pool of people we deploy as the ‘Independent Element’ to establish a representative and talented team. London’s diversity is its biggest asset, and the Mayor has made clear his commitment to recruit and appoint to boards in a way that better reflects London’s diversity. Our independent panel members must champion inclusive and diverse boards and be passionate about promoting diversity in public appointments.
We are seeking suitably qualified individuals who have senior experience of high-profile public-sector organisations or public appointments at executive / senior management level, and can operate in a complex political environment, upholding standards and providing sound independent judgement.
We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.
How to Apply
To join us, we ask you apply using the guidance in the Application Pack.
Candidates are invited to apply by submitting an application form, which includes a supporting statement of no more than 1500 words. The statement should provide details of the relevant experience that equips you to serve as an independent panel member, addressing the criteria listed in the Role Specification.
Equality, diversity and inclusion

Please note, should you require any adjustments through the process, we will accommodate as much as possible. Please contact the recruitment team for further information if required.
