Hello,
My client is in need of an Electronics Engineer based in Maidenhead due to expansion.
They are a rapidly expanding aerospace company located in Berkshire, specializing in the design and production of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). As a key player in the industry, they are currently in a phase of significant growth and are actively seeking talented engineers to join their dynamic Research and Development (R&D) team. Our drive trains cater to a family of aircraft with payloads exceeding 300 kg, showcasing their commitment to cutting-edge technology and innovation.
Position Overview:
As the Inverter Designer, you will take a lead role in designing innovative inverters for Brushless DC (BLDC) motors, ranging from 1 kW and 24V to 30 kW and 400V. This position involves driving new hardware designs from a clean slate across various drive train platforms. You will be responsible for component ownership, ensuring resource readiness for upcoming projects, and proactively addressing potential challenges. Collaboration with the R&D team, encompassing emotor, battery, propeller, and integration specialists, is integral to the success of this role.
This is not a graduate role as it requires several years of proven professional experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Inverter Modelling:
- Develop and implement inverter models for BLDC motors, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Utilize simulation tools for analysis and validation of inverter designs.
- Inverter thermal modelling.
- Knowledge of motor control strategies.
Semiconductor Selection and PCB Layout:
- Identify and select suitable semiconductors for inverter applications.
- PCB layout process, optimizing design for reliability, manufacturability, and thermal performance.
Test Procedure Development:
- Develop comprehensive test procedures to validate inverter functionality and performance.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM):
- Implement a DFM approach to ensure efficient and cost-effective production processes.
Education and Previous Experience:
- Degree or PhD in Electronics.
- Proven experience in similar aerospace, automotive, or motorsport industries working with BLDC or PMSM inverters.
- Proficiency in PCB design software.
- Strong communication skills suitable for a fast-paced working team.
