Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an award-winning, multi-disciplinary design business with the hire of a Senior Town Planner for their studio in Birmingham.

Our client is keen to hear from experienced Town Planners to work from their studio in Birmingham, reporting to the Planning Director. The wider planning team is based in the East Midlands so the successful candidate needs to be confident and be able to demonstrate the ability to work (alongside non-planning team members) with little supervision.

Our client is one of the largest and most successful multidisciplinary design practices in the UK also featuring in a top 100 UK practice list! From offices in the south and midlands, our client designs and delivers fantastic spaces and places.

In this role, the successful Senior Town Planner will;

-Prepare, submit and manage pre-application enquiries, planning applications, appeals and local plan representations

-Liaise with clients, third parties and planning authorities on all relevant matters

-Present proposals at public meetings and community consultation events

-Carry out desktop research to support projects, reports and appraisals

-Attend meetings and undertake site visits as required

-Build and maintain client relationships

-Perform any other relevant activities as required by the company

In order to apply, the successful Senior Town Planner should have/hold;

-Chartership status with the RTPI

-Substantial knowledge of the English planning system

-Have good presentation and communication skills

-Have the initiative to work both independently and as part of a team

-Have the ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

-Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes; knowledge of Adobe software e.g. InDesign would be an advantage

-Have a full UK driving licence
