WB Employment operating as an employment business are recruiting on behalf of our client for an Assistant Production Manager on a permanent basis.

We are seeking an Assistant Production Manager to support the Production Manager on the factory floor.

This integral role within the Production Leadership team is imperative to ensure smooth operations and the timely delivery of high-quality products.

The position includes overseeing daily production activities, troubleshooting issues, and resolving any problems within the department.

You will assist in managing all aspects of personnel and production to meet the quality, cost, and delivery goals required to satisfy both company and customer standards.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring that production processes are in line with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and motivate production teams to achieve targets and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Attending occasional Health and Safety meetings.
  • Communicating expectations to production team members and evaluating their performance.
  • Updating and reviewing the skills matrix for the factory.
  • Regularly checking machinery to ensure safe and efficient workflow. Communicate any issues to the Production Manager.
  • Compiling production reports and providing management with effective updates.
  • Building strong working relationships with the Production Team and Senior Management.
  • Understanding and appreciating the quality levels and needs of our customers.
  • Report employee attendance levels including holidays and absence to Production Manager.
  • Driving production whilst being mindful of costs, quality & material usage.
  • Escalate production issues in a timely manner.
  • Lead, develop and support production employees to foster a collaborative working approach – promoting and working to create and maintain positive morale and working relationships.
  • Support and encourage continuous improvement of the production processes.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all areas of operations.
  • Support the onboarding programmes for all new starters.
  • Support the annual appraisal process for Operators.
  • Carry out return to work meetings in a timely manner.
  • Ensure completion of daily work/check sheets of your team.
  • Ensuring that personal conduct is in line with management guidelines and company rules.
  • Additional tasks as and when required relevant to job role.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a production management/supervisory role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of assembly processes and quality control procedures.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams
  • Proficient in implementing continuous improvement strategies to drive operational excellence
  • Sound understanding of business processes and the ability to make informed decisions
  • Adept at problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritising tasks effectively
