Role: Senior Planning Consultant

Location: Multiple Locations including Scotland.

You will be joining an exciting and leading multi-disciplinary consultancy. The ideal candidate will have responsibility for a wide variety of projects including development management, master planning, promoting development plan allocations for landowners and developers, negotiating developer interests with planning authorities and their statutory consultees, preparation of planning applications and appeals, local development plan representations, policy and site appraisals and supporting information, often in collaboration with architects, engineers, environmental specialists and other professionals. 

Duties will include:

  • Assuming responsibility for a variety of small, medium to large scale projects across all development sectors, including housing, tourism, hotels, estates and other commercial including a good range of environmental projects coming on stream.
  • Managing projects including planning applications (major and local), Development Plans submissions and appeals.
  • Undertaking Feasibility Assessments of sites for development suitability.
  • Liaising with planning officers, architects, consultants and other third parties.
  • Preparing planning appraisals for new potential projects.
  • Undertaking research and analysis for sites, including planning policy and case history.
  • Preparing fee quotations and complete projects within budget.
  • Establishing and utilising existing networking avenues to promote our business.

Qualifications:

  • RTPI Accredited Degree or similar.
  • Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI).
  • RICS Planning & Development Surveyor.

Skills:

  • Demonstrate a positive and proactive approach to meeting client and business expectations
  • Possess excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Have a collaborate approach to management of projects and meet timescales
  • Have sound knowledge of Scottish planning practice, procedures and planning legislation
  • Ability to engage in community consultations
  • Possess excellent written reporting skills, and competent in Microsoft Office Clean driving licence
