We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a reputable primary school in Barking & Dagenham, London.

Role Overview: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to SEN students within a mainstream classroom setting. Your role will be crucial in helping these students access the curriculum, engage in school activities, and develop social and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to SEN students in a mainstream classroom, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapting learning activities accordingly.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and use effective strategies to support SEN students.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support the social and emotional development of SEN students, promoting positive interactions with peers.
  • Participate in training and professional development sessions as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting SEN children is desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
