Our client is a market leading innovator in electric technologies with a focus on providing sustainable products to a range of industries such as Automotive, Rail and Industrial. They are currently looking to strengthen their team with the recruitment of a Principle Embedded Software Engineer.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to apply your technical skill set and knowledge to a design and development phase project. You will be collaborating with various other engineering teams allowing you to get involved at all levels. This role will be ideal for an engineer who is passionate about developing and growing embedded software capabilities, while being responsible for supporting the development of current and future technical products, such as inverter and microprocessor-based software.

About the Embedded Software Engineer Role

As the Embedded Software Engineer, you will work with power electronic engineers to define, develop & deploy hardware and software to control a range of products which serve a range of application sectors.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the embedded software development function; including requirements management, design, documentation, version control, verification, validation, and customer interaction.

  • Technically supervise and support embedded software activities, both on customer and internal projects.

  • Ensure the effective project management with appropriate resource levels and skills, workload planning, clarity of roles and responsibilities

  • Ensure all relevant functional safety and quality standards are met and improvements are planned to maintain customer satisfaction levels.

  • Prepare technical papers and give presentations at selected events.

About You

As Principle Embedded Software Engineer, you will have extensive experience of working to best practice across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, validation, and continuous deployments. You will ideally have experience in the Automotive industry or a similar background working with electrification.

Other requirements include:

  • Honours degree in an appropriate science or engineering discipline.

  • A professional qualification such as CEng with IET or similar is desirable but not essential.

  • Development of embedded C, C++ software for automotive applications.

  • Bare-Metal and RTOS-based Multicore architectures.

  • ISO26262, UDS (ISO14229), MISRA C/C++ and/or related coding guidelines.
