Job Overview:
The Strategic Director of Children's Residential Home will lead and oversee the strategic development, operational management, and continuous improvement of our children's residential care facilities. This role requires a visionary leader with a passion for child welfare, exceptional strategic planning abilities, and strong leadership skills. The Strategic Director will ensure that the home provides a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children, promoting their physical, emotional, and educational well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Development:
- Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the organisation's mission and goals.
- Identify and analyze trends, opportunities, and challenges in the field of residential child care.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to set long-term goals and create action plans to achieve them.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in care delivery and operational processes.
Operational Leadership:
- Oversee daily operations to ensure the highest standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Implement policies and procedures that promote the safety, well-being, and development of children.
- Ensure effective resource allocation, including staffing, budgeting, and facilities management.
- Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement among staff.
Team Management and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of managers, caregivers, and support staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment.
- Address staff concerns and implement solutions to improve job satisfaction and retention.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care programs and services.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain high standards of care and safety.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives based on feedback and best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including families, regulatory bodies, and community organisations.
- Represent the organisation at meetings, conferences, and events.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of children in residential care.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within residential child care or a related field.
- Skills:
- Strong strategic planning and project management skills.
- Excellent leadership and team-building abilities.
- Deep understanding of child welfare regulations and best practices.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in child welfare, management, or related areas are advantageous.
