The Role and Its Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer with estimating experience or a desire to branch out into this field, to join our clients team. This role will involve designing and developing mechanical systems for various high-profile projects, ensuring they meet all specifications and quality standards and the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to engage in estimating work or be trained in this area. Key responsibilities include:

Developing detailed mechanical designs and layouts, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs align with project requirements and objectives.
Conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments to support project planning and decision-making.
Preparing and reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
Participating in project meetings and providing technical support and expertise as needed.
Engaging in or developing skills in estimating project costs, materials, and resources.
Ensuring designs adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
Keeping up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

The Individual

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled Mechanical Designer with a strong background in developing mechanical systems for complex projects. They should possess excellent technical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Experience or an interest in estimating is essential.

Skills and Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Extensive experience in mechanical design, preferably within the healthcare, commercial, or industrial sectors.
Strong proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
Experience or aspirations in estimating project costs, materials, and resources.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, construction processes, and relevant standards and regulations.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
