Housing and Support Officer: Reading, Thatcham – Berkshire and Swindon, Wiltshire
Are you passionate about helping people and willing to go above and beyond to deliver an excellent service? Have you worked in a housing and/or support setting and have a ‘can do’ attitude? If so, this could be the role for you.
You will be managing a patch that primarily covers Reading and Thatcham in Berkshire, and Swindon in Wiltshire comprising 120 rented properties. You’ll regularly be visiting and working closely with customers and dealing proactively with issues that arise on the patch. There is an opportunity for some home working and also occasional working from our head office in Staines.
This rewarding role is perfect for people with some housing management experience who are looking for the opportunity to provide more intensive, personalised housing support services. Although experience of working in supported housing is preferred, it’s not essential as training and support will be provided to the right candidate.

Post requirements
- Car driver – full clean licence and use of own car for work
- Able to carry out property visits across the designated area
- This post requires an enhanced DBS check (done by company)

What you’ll do
- To work as part of a team providing housing management and tenancy sustainment support services to Ability’s client group, which includes customers with learning disabilities, mental health needs and / or physical and sensory impairments.
- To provide comprehensive housing and tenancy management services including the management of rent and service charge payments; voids and lettings; tenancy management and enforcement, including nuisance and anti-social behaviour; estate / scheme inspections, property maintenance and health and safety issues.
- To provide support and supervision to customers to help them maintain their housing and achieve their personal independent living goals.

Location – The Coach House, Staines
Hours – 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
