Hamilton Woods Engineering is working with a market leader in the Nuclear industry which specialises in Control system integration for critical national infrastructure on a mass scale. They have seen continued growth with plenty of work and require 4x engineers to start with them.

Summary of Role:

They are looking to recruit either a control panel designer or hardware designer to join them and help deliver on their current projects. The role is a full cradle-to-grave design process, working on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Communication Modules, Input/Output (I/O) Modules, Safety Controllers and Relays, Servo Drives and Motors, Power Supplies, Sensors and Actuators, Network Switches and Routers, Software and Firmware. The control Panels they deal with are wardrobe and cubicle-type control panels, drives, controls and MCCs in sheet steel and stainless steel enclosures.

Essential Experience

  • Knowledge of designing electrical cubicle-type control panels containing PLC's and LV distribution systems (Distribution Transformers, Switchgear, Busbars, Main Distribution Boards (MDB), Sub-Distribution Boards (SDB), Circuit Breakers and Fuses, Cables and Conductors, Meters and Monitoring Devices, Earthing (Grounding) System, Surge Protection Devices (SPDs), Distribution Panels, Power Factor Correction Equipment, Wiring Accessories, Load Management Systems, Control Systems.) .
  • Design of electrical cabling and containment systems (Cable Types, Conduits and Trays, Connectors and Terminations, Junction Boxes and Distribution Boards, Fasteners and Supports.)
  • Educated to at least a degree level in a relevant subject or HND with additional experience on project implementation
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, Microsoft Office Word & excel.
  • Must be able to achieve security clearance to at least SC level, and possibly DV
  • It is essential that candidates have excellent communication skills as client contact and mentoring is required.
  • Ability to mentor and develop engineers and technicians
  • A good working knowledge of related safety and environmental legislation.
  • Able to develop technical solutions to meet project and customer expectations
  • Thorough understanding of, or working towards, BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Understanding of IEC BS EN (phone number removed), Low-voltage switchgear, and control gear assemblies
  • Confidence to work within a multidisciplinary design team
  • Working with production to see the design through to completion.
  • TUV Experience

Desirable Requirements:

  • Worked previously in a highly regulated industry.
  • Understanding of EMC practices
  • Will hold or will be working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineering status
  • MEng qualification
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Site experience (survey /install)
