Engineering Department Manager

Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, the Engineering Department Manager will be proactive, highly safety-conscious, and capable of leading and managing engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, and utility departments. This role requires providing constant guidance, mentoring, and support to the team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in crafting and implementing an engineering strategy that aligns with business goals, emphasizing efficiency, quality, capability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of engineering projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.
  • Initiate continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure all activities consider health, safety, environmental, and energy impacts, complying with ISO 14001 standards.
  • Maintain a safe operating environment and ensure all tasks comply with legislative, HSE, quality, and company standards.

Requirements:

  • HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams within the manufacturing industry, with strong team-building skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and ISO 14001.
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) at all organizational levels, internally and externally.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure role.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working proactively and independently.
  • Proficient in computer use.
