Project Engineer (Electrical)
Sector: Renewable Energy
Contract: 12-18 months
Rate: Excellent
Location: Hybrid (4 days in Central London/on site, 1 day home office)
Required Experience: 5-10 years in renewables, grid, or energy generation (e.g., gas peaking plants, energy storage, wind, solar)
Responsibilities:
Design Coordination:
- Oversee electrical engineering design packages.
- Manage and resolve design issues.
- Lead design coordination meetings.
- Update project team on design progress.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of design deliverables.
Document Control:
- Manage and ensure correct use of all electrical drawings and calculations.
Communication:
- Relay design information between contractors and site teams.
- Conduct regular site visits during the construction phase.
Design Development:
- Support future project designs and contractor evaluations for battery and hydrogen-ready gas plants.
Owner’s Engineer Role:
- Review and approve electrical design work.
- Conduct earthing designs, protection, fault levels, and grid studies.
High-Level Specification:
- Provide specifications for transformers, switchgear, etc.
- Represent the company in meetings with stakeholders.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Knowledge of 275kV substation design and electrical safety up to 400kV.
- Experience with gas peaking plant construction.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D and 3D CAD Design.
- Ability to liaise with DNOs and National Grid.
