Position Title: CNC Lathe Programmer, Setter, and Operator

Location: Walsall

Job Overview:

We are looking a experienced and highly skilled CNC Lathe Programmer, Setter, and Operator with expertise in Fanuc controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing precision turned parts for various industries using different types of materials including exotic materials. This role requires a meticulous individual who can work from engineering drawings to produce both small and large batches, ensuring all parts meet strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Programming:
    Develop and optimise CNC lathe programs using Fanuc controls.Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.Select appropriate tools, cutting paths, and machining parameters to achieve desired outcomes.
  2. Setting:
    Set up CNC lathes for production runs, ensuring all settings are correct.Install and align tools, fixtures, and workpieces.Perform trial runs to ensure machines are configured correctly.
  3. Operating:
    Operate CNC lathes to produce precision parts.Monitor machine operations to detect issues or malfunctions and make adjustments as necessary.
    Maintain high standards of quality by regularly inspecting parts using all relevant measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, Vernier calipers, gauges etc).
  4. Quality Control:
    Conduct in-process inspections and document results.
    Ensure all parts meet customer and industry specifications.
    Identify and implement corrective actions to address quality issues.
  5. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    Perform routine maintenance on CNC lathes to ensure optimal performance.
    Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues.
    Coordinate with maintenance team for major repairs or servicing.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
    Suggest improvements in processes, tools, and techniques.
  7. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Programmer, Setter, and Operator.

Proficiency with Fanuc controls.

Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.

Extensive experience working with exotic materials.

Skilled in using precision measuring instruments and tools.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum of [3] years of experience in CNC lathe programming, setting, and operating.
