Science Technician - Mainstream Secondary School - Full Time - September Start - Permanent Position 

I am seeking a diligent and skilled Science Technician to join an 'outstanding' secondary school in Twickenham. The successful candidate will support the science department by preparing materials and equipment for lessons, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Preparation:

    • Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals, and materials for science lessons.
    • Assist teachers with practical demonstrations and experiments.
    • Ensure all laboratory equipment is cleaned and maintained properly.
  • Health and Safety:

    • Follow and enforce health and safety regulations in the laboratory.
    • Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments.
    • Ensure the safe disposal of chemical and biological waste.
  • Inventory Management:

    • Maintain an accurate inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
    • Order and replenish stock as needed.
    • Keep records of all materials and equipment used.
  • Support for Teaching Staff:

    • Provide technical support to science teachers during lessons.
    • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
    • Support students with practical work and ensure they follow safety protocols.
  • Administrative Duties:

    • Keep up-to-date records of laboratory usage and maintenance.
    • Assist with the organization of science-related events and activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a laboratory setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in science or a related field are desirable.
