Our client, a Commercial Law firm with a reputation nationally, who operate specifically in the education sector, are looking for an Employment Solicitor to head up its Employment Law team.

Based in modern state of the art offices in North Manchester with onsite parking, collaborative working spaces and an onsite coffee shop, the firm have grown rapidly over the last ten years securing tenders and contracts in an attractive area of employment law

This role will suit a candidate looking to progress with a minimum of 3 years PQE in Employment Law

Role Purpose

To provide legal advice and support to our education clients on contentious and non-contentious employment law matters at the same time as providing direction to the team and leading the Employment Law team

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide operational supervision for more junior members of the team such as trainee solicitors / HR advisors and to assist in the management of the companies service levels and standards being met firm-wide
  • To support the directors in developing and shaping its services and products
  • To lead by example and be a source of knowledge and support for colleagues
  • To look for business development opportunities, present seminars, write articles and participate in professional and corporate events
  • Collaborate with the directors using company data to reflect on performance and achieve continuous improvement
  • To provide employment law advice on contentious and non-contentious employment law matters to schools and multi-academy trusts under the companies subscription services
  • To manage contentious employment tribunal case files from the outset through to conclusion, including alternative dispute resolution (such as mediation), complying with court orders and attendance and representation at preliminary hearings
  • Drafting pre-action correspondence, pleadings, lists of documents and bundle preparation, witness statements, making applications and creating draft orders
  • To undertake negotiation and finalise settlements (settlement agreements and COT3s)
  • To undertake employment related projects such as changes to T&Cs, TUPE, Redundancy
  • To undertake external investigations
  • To draft clear legal advice in a way which demonstrates commercial awareness and is appropriate to the needs of the client
  • To attend meetings internally and with clients
  • To carry out legal research
