About the job – Manufacturing Engineer
We're looking to take on a Manufacturing Engineer to support the work already being carried out by the engineering leadership team. As the company continues through planned growth, this role will take on a number of responsibilities detailed below.

Working on the premises of a well-established precision engineering business, your skills and experience as a Manufacturing Engineer will be just what we’re looking for to fulfil an important role in the manufacturing of high quality, premium precision engineered components which are supplied to important customers across the globe.
This is no ordinary Manufacturing Engineer position.

Job title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Tewkesbury
Working hours: 39 hour working week, day shift, finishing at lunch time on Fridays, overtime readily available.

Working from modern, clean and well-maintained premises where careful investment in employees and new technology has driven the success of the business, it will be your flair for identifying and delivering manufacturing best practice which will support the Company’s progress into the next phase of advancement.
 
In this brand-new role which has been created to support the company’s next step in their growth programme, you will be the link between the design team and the manufacturing team. You will join the senior engineering team and you will work closely with designers and mechanical engineers to bring new products into the product portfolio, perfect current manufacturing processes and support a team of skilled CNC Machinists to be the best they can be.
 
 
Role and responsibilities of Manufacturing Engineer:
  • Working towards process efficiency by reducing waste, reducing cycle times, and reducing machine downtime;
  • working closely with mechanical engineers and designers to advise on new product design for manufacture and to support transition from design to prototype part production, through to production and embedding new processes;
  • improving manufacturability of current product range and overcoming manufacturing challenges;
  • designing bespoke tooling and working with tooling reps to select best tooling;
  • proving out designs and resolving prototype non-conformances against model;
  • creating and then maintaining machine routing method plans;
  • recommending improvements to current manufacturing processes and developing best practices;
  • monitor, review and maximise machining quality and efficiency;
  • promoting best practice and supporting employees to be the best they can be through training, guidance;
  • proposing and advising on future capital investment and
  • working with machine tool suppliers to ensure smooth introduction of new equipment into the business.
 
 
Your skills and experience:
We’re looking to hire an ambitious, energetic Manufacturing Engineer with the drive and innovative spirit to make a difference. Amongst other skills and experience, you will have:
  • a sound understanding of CNC machine tool programming, setting and operating;
  • a solid grasp of manufacturing routing to achieve good overall equipment effectiveness;
  • previous involvement in new product development for manufacture;
  • prior experience in either new product introduction, manufacturing project work, manufacturing engineering, production engineering, continuous improvement or similar position;
  • previous experience of lean manufacturing, Kaizen continuous improvement, design for manufacture or similar production tools within a precision manufacturing facility;
  • the ability to understand complex engineering drawings;
  • great communication skills with the knack of being able talk through complex engineering challenges and its practical implications with colleagues;
  • the capability to make considered proposals for capital investment;
  • some prior experience of using CAD software would be ideal;
  • confident user of Microsoft Office packages Word and Excel.
