The Opportunity for the Senior Payroll Clerk:
The opportunity for a Senior Payroll Clerk at our client offers an engaging and dynamic role within a prominent organisation. You will be pivotal in ensuring the accurate processing of wages, salaries, and various forms of compensation, contributing to a seamless payroll function. This position allows you to work with advanced systems like Workday and iTrent, and involves collaborating with different departments to deliver exceptional payroll services. What the Senior Payroll Clerk will be involved in:
- Process wages, salaries, and various forms of compensation via Workday and iTrent before payroll deadlines.
- Review errors, exceptions, and element reports, and reconcile to final payroll.
- Perform manual payroll calculations, including family leave and tax calculations.
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and maintain accurate employee payroll records.
- Process pension deductions accurately and in line with Auto-enrolment and Pensions Salary Sacrifice/Exchange procedures.
- Inform stakeholders of any missing data and ensure its completion in Workday and iTrent before the payroll deadline.
- Update the system for all leave types, ensuring pay is accurately calculated.
- Assist with BACS report preparation, payroll summaries, final analysis, and reconciliations.
- Respond promptly to queries from the Payroll Admin inbox and assist with payroll reconciliation.
- Generate and analyse payroll reports to support financial and management reporting.
- Proven experience in a busy in-house payroll function, with knowledge of UK payroll practices and procedures
- Relevant qualifications in payroll administration or a related field
- Ability to produce accurate and high-quality work consistently
- Strong ability to organise, prioritise, and manage tasks to meet demanding deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders
- A proactive approach to identifying problems and formulating solutions
- High level of motivation and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
- Resilient, positive, and methodical mindset
- Ability to stay calm and focused under pressure
