gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Mechanical Maintenance Manager to work at their facility based near Runcorn
Performance Objectives

  • Manage the mechanical and electrical engineering department, including the design team via the DO Manager.
  • Act as the 'Mechanical Design Authority' and 'Responsible Mechanical Engineer' for the Business.
  • Be the 'go-to' person for mechanical engineering expertise in the Business having final authority on mechanical engineering decisions.
  • Offer support to other departments such as Commercial, R&D & Manufacturing.
  • Manage the 'Engineering Design Change System'.
  • Ensure engineering activities are in compliance with regulations and internal standards.
  • Deliver the Mech Engineering strategy.
  • Work alongside other department managers to deliver the Business objectives.
  • Own and manage capital projects and product development objectives.
  • Be prepared to travel to our sites and supplier sites to manage engineering activities as required.
  • Responsible for the third party supply of components and assemblies, including managing supplier quality and processes to ensure they meet business needs.
  • Deliver the Capital Project plan and contribute to the development of the future growth strategy for the manufacturing and supply chain assets.
  • Develop, assess and test aspects of in-house electrolyser technology to improve quality and performance and reduce cost.
  • Support the engineering work for customer projects, ensuring timely delivery to specification.

Person Specification

  • Degree qualified Chartered Engineer with a strong mechanical and materials engineering background.
  • Significant experience in engineering manufacturing/fabrication and workshop engineering equipment and processes, with gravitas and technical rigour.
  • Experience in working with pipework and pressure systems and the requirements of PED/PER and PSSR.
  • Analytical and problem solving such as FMEA, 5 Why, 8D.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience in Quality Management systems such as ISO 9001:2015.
  • Experience with PUWER, LOLER, CE marking requirements and Machinery Directive.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.
  • Customer-focused
