About The Role:

Reporting into the Chief Engineer, The Engineering Compliance Manager will be responsible for the ensuring the sites engineering compliance to all legal, statutory, health & safety and food safety standards.

The position will support in the day-to-day management of the Engineering teams and promote a proactive maintenance approach whilst helping to control the department budget in all areas.

The Engineering Compliance Manager will be expected to:

  • Ensure that the engineering department / site is compliant in all legal, statutory, health & safety and food safety areas.
  • Management of Suppliers / contractors.
  • Ensure work on site is carried out safely and RAMS are available to cover all works.
  • Manage the Engineering contracts on site checking all agreed works are completed on-time in full against agreed contracts.
  • Maintain detailed records of all compliance areas.
  • Management of facility department covering all aspects of Refrigeration, Steam, Effluent, water
  • To actively promote and drive a safety culture within the department / factory ensuring all Health & safety requirements are met.
  • Carry out investigations and disciplinaries.
  • Work with external suppliers and site departments at all levels and build long term positive (one team) relationships.
  • To control labour by allocating work to self and others.
  • Review outstanding works from various work streams and prioritise effectively.
  • Working with the team all planned works and planned preventative maintenance tasks to be reviewed for effectiveness covering all H&S, Food safety and reliability issues
  • Play an active part in driving all CI project/initiatives with teams e.g. PIP plans, OpEx

About You:

To excel in this Engineering Compliance Manager position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a Food Manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering. Ideally apprentice trained.
  • A strong understanding of statutory (H&S at work act, PUWER, COSHH, DSEAR etc) group (site electrical rules, oven standards etc) standards and customer (BRC, M&S etc) standards.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to communicate to all levels within the business.
  • Experience of managing and developing a team of maintenance Engineers and have excellent coaching and training skills.
  • Strong planning and organising ability (of own workload and that of others).
  • Financial awareness to manage various budgets.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects / tasks simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of Pirana and SAP.
